Bryce finished the 2000 season 15th in the standings with 525 points.

Bryce Spoehr, who is a 77 year old Limited Late Model racer, has been an icon at WIR and FRRC events. He has raced for fourty years. Next week will be his final race as he retires from the sport.

The FRRC and the track managed to pull off a pretty big surprise during the start of the Limited Late Model feature Thursday night.

Before Bryce came out for hot lapping his crew put a little oil on his headers which would cause the car to smoke, knowing he would ackknolwedge the black flag and pull into the pit area to check the situation.

When he did so, a replica of a 1937 Pontiac Coupe was rolled onto the raceway and joined the field as they formed up for the start of the race.

Once the car was in the field, Bryce was allwed to return from the pits, having checked over the car for smoke.

When he returned to the track I'm sure he was quite surprised to see a replica of a car he'd driven many years earlier, in the field for the parade lap.

The race was then stopped and both of his "cars" were invited to the winner's circle where Spoehr was honored for his years of dedication to the sport, complete with plaques and accolades.

All of which were well deserved.

Those events took place this week, in the event of a possible rainout next week.

Bryce Spoehr has been racing for 38 years and is the longest standing member of the Fox River Racing Club. Bryce races in the Limited Late Model Division at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna, WI. Bryce's car, #78, is a 1993 Chevrolet Lumina on a HOWE chassis and is equipped with a 355 Calbilt Motor and is co-owned by Cal Breitrick.
