Blast from the Past

The following is a series of pictures showing the rollover Bryce experienced during qualifying on May 27th .

The right side Pan-Arm bolt let loose, allowing the right side of the rear end to shift backwards, pulling the drive-shaft out of the transmission. The front end of the drive-shaft embedded into the asphalt launching the car into a series of 3 crazy left front end rolls. Remarkably, the right side of the car sufferend no damage.

The car in the middle of the first roll (Note the drive-shaft near the front left wheel).

The car in the middle of the second roll (Note the drive-shaft is now by the left rear wheel).

The car as it comes to rest in the middle of the third roll (Note the drive-shaft is no longer visible).

The parts are collected and awaiting a ride to the pits while in the background Bryce takes a precautionary ride in the ambulance for a quick once over. Despite the harrowing ride and the fact that Bryce is 76 years old, the only injury was possibly to his pride.

The car being hooked up for a ride to the pits. The sheet metal on the roof of the car was scraped completely through to the roll cage due to the amount of time spent sliding and spinning while upside down. The car was back together in time to win the following Thursday's Semi-Feature and at the time of this writing has since won another Semi-Feature event in addition to one already scored earlier in the season.
